Dolce & Gabbana Hijab and Abaya Collection
Analysts have commended this strategy as a smart move as Muslim customers make a great percentage of the shopping revenues earned by such brands which means this move is not likely to disappoint D&G. The products are now available in the Middle East stores as well as few other countries including Paris and London.
What Does the New Line Look Like?
The pictures currently available show that the abayas and hijabs are mainly available in shades of black, white and beige. However, some interesting colors and designs are also seen such as the spots of yellow flowers on hijabs or the use of laces in abayas. The colorful images are likely to attract the young Muslim girls and are also displaying interesting D&G accessories to match with the outfit like sunglasses, purses and shoes. The stitching looks fabulous and the abayas are sure to give a chic outlook to religious outfits. The fabrics used in the making of the abayas and hijabs include georgettes and satin weave charmeuse. The choice of fabrics, designing and the use of layering in available images also seem to be excellent and likely to complement women of all ages and sizes.

Has such a Step been Taken for the First Time?
Well, this is definitely not the first time that an International brand has taken such a step. Many other popular International brands including Mango, DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger have also released such lines in the last few years. These products, however, were often only available for a limited period of time, for instance, the hijab line by DKNY was introduced only around Ramazan and was not easily available or reintroduced later on.

The Reviews- What this holds for the future?
The move has been appreciated and welcomed globally, particularly by Muslim women. In fact, it has turned into one of the most viral stories of the year. At the same time, the reviews have been mixed as some Muslim women stated on their Twitter accounts that they only wear Hijab and Abayas to pleas Allah and that the act should not be turned into a status symbol or fashion statement. Another point raised by many was that the chosen model was not Arab and that a Muslim Arab model should have been chosen. Nonetheless, many customers came forth with positive reviews, appreciating the quality and designs of the Hijabs. It is likely that other brands will also come forward with similar initiatives in future by following this lead. This also means that Muslim women are now being more closely integrated into the fashion industry and cultural differences are being realized by big brands like Dolce and Gabbana.

Everything about these “looks are disgusting and not hijab by definition. Just as the media and entire fashion industry made generations of women and girls sick, yes really really sick and even die due to their powerful influence, so too does this tripe by telling ‘every muslim girl’ that they should follow this style and that, “‘cos like y’know. everyone’s doin it and you’ll just stick out and look dumb if you don’t/follow me/be like the cool crowd” rhetoric spewed here. Cover your zeenat/beauty.
